The fourth annual Windsor Square-Hancock Park Garden Party & Tour will open six historic private gardens to the public just in time for the height of the spring blooming season. The tour, a unique opportunity to see the private spaces of some of the oldest and most beautiful properties in Los Angeles, is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2009, from 12 noon to 4 pm. A reception featuring a light supper and an opportunity drawing follows from 4 to 5 pm.

This year’s tour is being held in honor of Paramount Pictures and Carolyn Ramsay. Paramount Pictures is being honored for its numerous contributions to its surrounding neighborhoods. Among other projects, Paramount supports the Frances Blend School through contributions and employee volunteerism.

Ms. Ramsay, Director of Communications for Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, was the original creator of the garden tour originally known as the Olive Branches tour after a nonprofit organization Ms. Ramsay founded for the purpose of greening Los Angeles. She is being honored for her work in that area, as well as for her contributions to the city at large. To purchase a tribute in the program, please click here.

Featured on the tour is a spectacular garden on a double lot featuring California native plants in a variety of settings, from structured to a “wild” meadow. The garden to a Craftsman house includes a meditation pagoda and custom-designed rock mosaics, including a large fountain and a “rug.” Four additional gardens of varying styles will also be included on the tour, all with unique features. Docents and landscape designers will be on hand to discuss specific plants and design issues and to answer questions.

Tickets to the event are $50 each and can be purchased using the Register Now button above or by sending a check to:
